I will be holding "office hours" on Monday morning from 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM. If you have questions leave a comment in this post. I will hold another session if it is requested or needed.
I will not be around Tuesday night, Wednesday morning and Thursday night because I'll be running errands or sitting in class.

ReplyDeleteSamuel, by "office hours" I mean I will be sitting at my computer on the blog waiting for anyone who has questions about the writing assignment. Consider these "office hours" a form of tutoring like the tutoring sessions I hold in the mornings and afternoons at CTEA.
ReplyDeleteMehreen, there is no minimum or maximum to the amount of paragraphs. I do advise you that that 4 or 5 paragraphs is probably not enough given the number of literary works you'll be addressing in your own essay. I would suggest keeping this between 3-4 pages.

ReplyDeleteAlex, write your essay and finish reading Slaughterhouse Five. There is no minimum or maximum with the essay except that you must refer to the essays (all 7) in total. You may replace one essay with the Ken Robinson video about how schools kill creativity.
Aminah, it's up to you to decide how to fit the articles into your essay. You don't have to discuss each one in great detail. The purpose of reading the essays was to get you thinking about the education you receive and how it is decided what you will learn and what you won't. Keep in mind, that if the essays go against your thesis you can use them as your counter-argument. Each essay offers its writer's interpretation of what's wrong with education or how education should be for students. You can simply use one idea or statement out of one essay.
In terms of quotes, use MLA format.
so for the articles, we use all but one and replace it with the video, right?
